Chicago Tribune: The Rotation
Cubs GM Tony Knies promised to make changes and boy did he deliver this offseason. His primary focus coming into the year was finding a proven young starter to compliment Carlos Zambrano. No one thought that his primary target would be Scott Kazmir. The 24 year old left hander will heavily realied on in rotation. The number 3 and 4 spots will be manned up by returnies Ted Lilly and Rich Hill. Ted Lilly will eat up valuable innings to preserve the cubs bullpen and left hander Rich Hill will bring that vicous breaking ball back which strikes fear in all those in the batters box. The cubs brought in a familar face to help strengthen the number 5 spot in the rotation. Matt Clement will be back with Cubs. Before becoming a free agent, Clement spent 3 years with the Cubs posting 25 wins. He will be a welcome addition to the cubs this spring. The Cubs also have Sean Marshall and emerging stars Donnie Veal and Jeff Samardzija in the wings for the future.
All signs point for the cubs to win the division this spring and compete for the NL champs. Uncle Lou is poised to win it all this year with his pitching staff and line-up as good as anyone in baseball. Lets just hope the Billygoat and Bartman stay away this year.
